Shardeni Street, Ex. The dark line, a small pedestrian street in old Tbilisi, is one of the centers of cultural and social life in Tbilisi.


In the past there was one of the old streets of Old Tbilisi, which was on the square of Tatars (now Gorgasali) and connected it to Sioni Street. At one time this narrow street was roofed and was called "the dark street" (Russian «Темний ряд»). In the late Middle Ages there was a set of mechanisms, and in the XIX century the new baseline developed. The closed basement was dark at the beginning of the XX c. Then his reconstruction was done (G. Batiashvili, 1981) and XVII c. The name of French traveler Jean Shardin. 2002 Street renovation and amenities started.
